About us

St John’s aid society in Switzerland (SAS) has its roots in the social and welfare mission of the order of St. John. The Order was estabished in 11th century. The SAS in Switzerland was founded as SAS Basle on February 10th 1998 by members and friends of the Swiss commandery of the Order of St. John and since December 2015 it is a section of the Swiss SAS. The SAS in Switzerland is a legal person according to Article 60 of the Swiss Civil Code, and it is recognised as a charitable non-profit organisation.
The sections of SAS provide practical and financial assistance for the sick, the disabled, prisoners and others in need. It is there to provide support where there are gaps in the social network. The voluntary work of its members and active community members allows for spontaneous and direct assistance to those in need.
