Current information on birth during the Corona Pandemic
Dear parents-to-be,
Due to decreasing corona infections in Hamburg and the surrounding area, we have adapted our hygiene concept at the hospital as follows (status: 9 June 2021):
- The expectant father may continue to be present at the birth in the hospital; instead of him, another accompanying person may be present; this person may not change and may not leave the delivery room premises until after the end of the birth; during the birth, the accompanying person must permanently wear an FFP 2 mask.
- If the birth begins spontaneously, the pregnant woman and the accompanying person both receive a corona smear test as an admission screening when they are admitted to the delivery room.
- The following regulations apply to pregnant women for whom obstetric measures, such as a necessary induction of labour or a c-section, are planned:
- Please bring proof of a negative PCR test, which is not older than 24 hours, with you to the delivery room on the day of admission.
For fathers and accompanying persons
- For fathers or accompanying persons of pregnant women for whom obstetric measures, such as a necessary induction of labour or a c-section, are planned, the following regulations apply:
- If there is proof of two vaccinations (from 15d after second vaccination), a test for the coronavirus is no longer required. The vaccination certificate must be presented on the day of admission to the delivery room.
- If there is evidence of recovery from coronavirus more than 28 days but not more than six months ago, a coronavirus test is no longer required. An appropriate written medical certificate must be presented on the day of admission to the delivery room.
- All others need a negative antigen test that is not older than 24 hours. This antigen test must be Bfarm listed. A self-test is not permitted. Written proof of the test results must be provided on the day of admission to the delivery room.
- Wearing an FFP2 mask and appropriate hygiene measures are mandatory.
- Accompanying persons do not leave the delivery room or the clinic during the birth.
- Accompanying persons are also allowed in the surgery theatre during an incision delivery (planned or unplanned caesarean section).
- After birth, we recommend that all parents-to-be stay together in one of our newly renovated family rooms. This way, you can promote the best possible bond with your newborn and the father of the child can stay with his family all the time. This is also possible for only 1 or 2 nights. Please make sure that your partner also has a "clinic bag" ready for this purpose and brings it with him/her to the delivery room.
- Due to the special situation, we have adapted our space availability accordingly and expanded the maternity ward. There are now 14 family rooms available.
- Fathers or partners who are not admitted to the family room are allowed to visit 1x a day, taking into account the testing strategy for vaccinated, recovered or tested persons listed above.
- Siblings, other relatives or friends are currently not allowed as visitors
- All visitors, without exception, register via the Luca app on arrival and departure from the ward at the nurses' station.
