In the reception rooms:
- Blood collection
- If necessary, insertion of an indwelling venous cannula
- Recording an ECG
- Taking blood pressure and temperature
- Creating the patient's chart
- Taking the patient's medical history - done by the admitting nurse
If the patient is not yet assigned to a ward, this is also done by the nursing staff. If the patient has a walking disability or needs a bed immediately for other reasons, this will of course be made available to them immediately.
This is followed by a physical examination and anamnesis by the doctor on duty. The doctor determines the therapy required for the next few hours and informs the patient about any planned examinations or operations.
If an X-ray is to be taken, or if other examinations such as ultrasound are required, the patient is then taken to where these are performed.
