Internal Medicine
Our medical clinic's range of services includes all services required for the optimal care of acute and chronic internal diseases. We treat all diseases of the internal organs and use modern medical technology and treatment methods throughout. Every year, we treat more than 3000 inpatients within our department.
Our ward has 54 beds, of which 6 are intensive care and ventilation beds in cooperation with the Clinic for Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine and 4 are "intermediate care beds" for critically ill patients, which can be used on an interdisciplinary basis.
Our dedicated medical and nursing teams work around the clock to provide our patients with the best possible care. We are particularly dedicated to the holistic care of our patients in order to achieve the best possible treatment results. In doing so, we continuously utilise all possibilities to improve the quality of our services.

We are part of the regional heart attack network
As a pioneering achievement for this area, a regional heart attack network was set up in cooperation between Johanniter-Krankenhaus Gronau, Alfeld Hospital, and the cardiology clinic of St. Bernward Hospital in Hildesheim.
Already at the scene of an emergency, emergency doctors of Johanniter-Krankenhaus write an ECG and, if necessary, fax it via a digital radio network to the cardiac catheter team in Hildesheim. If a cardiac catheter is necessary, the relevant treatment begins immediately upon the patient's arrival at the cardiac catheter laboratory, with the aim of reopening the affected occluded coronary vessel.
Thanks to telemedicine, all necessary preparations can be made while the patient is still on the road. After cardiac catheterisation and stabilisation of the patient, they are transferred to the Johanniter-Krankenhaus for care close to home.
