Gastroenterology
Gastroenterology is a branch of internal medicine and deals with the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the digestive system and the organs associated with this tract: liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. We particularly frequently treat gallstone disease, inflammation of the stomach and intestines, bleeding of the digestive system (for example due to ulcers), intestinal obstructions, fluid deficiency, and diabetes mellitus. Patients with unclear clinical pictures of the abdominal cavity are admitted to our "Abdominal Centre". In this interdisciplinary department, together with the Clinic for General and Visceral Surgery, unclear clinical pictures are clarified in a precisely defined procedure, and treatment decisions are made.
