Geriatric Medicine with Neurology and Day Clinic
Geriatric medicine is on everyone's lips. "Life is movement - All You Can Train" is the motto of our clinic. In our ageing society, we are analysing which medical and therapeutic options are sensible and adequate in old age, as well as those beneficial for the individual. In this context, geriatrics is a multimodal and interprofessional treatment approach tailored to older people. In old age, there are usually several diseases present at the same time (multimorbidity).
In the geriatric ward, acute illnesses are diagnosed and treated. These are, for example, neurological (Parkinson's disease, stroke, Alzheimer's disease / dementia, unclear symptoms of falls, dizziness), internal (heart and lung diseases, diabetes mellitus, infectious diseases), or orthopaedic diseases (acute pain exacerbations in degenerative skeletal diseases, such as polyarthrosis, osteoporosis, or rheumatoid diseases).
In old age, there is a broad complex of syndromes. Therefore, our multi-professional team provides clinically-led diagnoses of patient problems on the basis of geriatric assessment (specific diagnostic procedures in geriatric medicine) and strives to find the best possible solution in the context of the patient's social possibilities and wishes. The aim is to maintain or regain independence and mobility across everyday functions for our patients, and to prevent the need for care as much as possible.
