Target group:
45 communities in four townships (20 villages in Karen State and 25 in northern Shan State) affected by armed conflict. The entire local population will benefit directly from the various project activities to varying degrees.
What it is about:
The overall objective of the project is to protect, restore and improve the livelihoods of people in conflict-affected areas of Northern Shan and Karen State, and to strengthen their resilience and self-help capacity.
Examples of activities:
Establishment of village development committees (VDCs) with a gender orientation to support self-determined development processes.
Annual village development planning and review
Identification of income generation opportunities
Imparting knowledge and skills on livestock rearing, horticulture, soil fertility and non-agricultural incomes
Improved promotion of children's social, physical and mental development through early childhood care
Rehabilitation of community wells and construction of gravity fed water systems.
